What started out as a movie has become an on-going movement.  All across our country marriages are being saved and enriched through the story and biblical application of FIREPROOF.  Relationships are wonderful gifts given to us by God.  As we read in the Bible, the most-intimate relationship is marriage between a husband and a wife.  Unfortunately, marriage relationships today are under more cultural and interpersonal pressure and stress than ever before in our history.  But it doesn’t have to be that way.

FIREPROOF, an action-packed love story from the creators of Facing the Giants, tells the story of a couple on the brink of divorce … until they discover God’s design for their relationship.  If you have not seen this film, or even if you have, you will want to mark January 31, 2010 on your calendar.  At 6:30 PM in the Family Life Center we will watch this film as we prepare to embark on a journey to strengthen and Fireproof marriages.

On this very same weekend, January 30-31, 2010 Bethany will begin a three week mini-sermon series which will look at God’s plan for marriage.  Following the sermon series our Elders and Pastoral staff would like to encourage you and your spouse to take part in a Fireproof bible study in a small group.  These small groups will launch February 14, 2010 just in time for you and your spouse to give each other a special Valentine’s gift – a marriage which is Fireproof!

In preparation for our Fireproof series Pastor Drebes is looking for small group “couple leaders” to help facilitate this six-week marriage enrichment bible study.  For more information about this series please go to

The three-week leader familiarization sessions will begin on January 10, 2010 at 7:00 pm at our Overland Park Mission in Room 201.
