Both Services will be in the Church Sanctuary

See the bottom of this page for links to
a printable application and an on-line application.

The students in our Overland Park and Stilwell Sunday School and the Day School will lead us as we celebrate the birth of Jesus our Savior who was sent to be “JOY for the WORLD.”  In addition to songs and the Christmas story, the children will tell THEIR story of the joy Jesus brings to their lives.  They will also share stories of missionaries who share the good news of Jesus our Christmas Joy in lands far away.  As is our tradition, this service will be presented twice (times indicated above).

Please let us know which service would be your family’s preference in which to participate.  Note that both services will be held at 5:30 p.m.

Special Practices in the Overland Park Sanctuary:
Saturday, December 1

9:00—10:30 a.m. for children in the December 16 service.
10:45 a.m.—12:15 p.m. for children in the Christmas Eve service.

No practice December 8 because of the Splendor of Christmas Concert.

Saturday, December 15
9:00—10:30 a.m. for children in the December 24 service.
           10:45 a.m. — 12:15 p.m. for children in the December 16 service.

Please respond by Sunday, November 18.  There are reading parts available and if your child wants to participate in reading parts, please indicate on the participation form.  Return the forms to the boxes downstairs at OP, the Overland Park Mission church office, the box at the Stilwell Mission, mail it, fax it (648-2283), or fill out the form on the website or in Friday folder.  If you have any questions, call Pam Nummela.

Children are invited to play Christmas music during the pre-service for either service.  If your child plays piano or another instrument and has Christmas music prepared, please indicate that on your response sheet.

Additional Information:
Song CD and Lyrics
— will be distributed during Day School on November 9 and Sunday School on November 11 to the oldest child in your family.  After that Sunday, song CD’s and words will be available at the downstairs Information Center at the Overland Park Mission and at the check-in table at the Stilwell Mission.

Speaking Parts — If your child wants to participate in a speaking part, it is extremely important that they attend both Saturday rehearsals (preferably for the service that they will be attending).  Please note the split schedules for the Saturday rehearsals.

Schedules get tight during December.  Hopefully with this advance notice, time can be protected to make sure your child can attend both rehearsals in order to be comfortable with their position in the service.  Scripts will be distributed.  Please rehearse your child at home as opportunities become available.  The more times they rehearse it, the more confident they will be at the service.

Drop Off and Pick Up Procedures — Please drop off and pick up your children in the Overland Park Sanctuary during the Saturday rehearsals.  On the night of the service, your child is to go to his/her Sunday School class or grade level class.  Stilwell Children will have a special location identified for them.  Please don’t leave your child(ren) unattended.  Please make sure there is adult supervision in the room before leaving.  Students should arrive by 5:15 p.m. on the day of the service that they will be participating in.  We will form the lines for the procession five minutes before the service starts.

Cookies!!!  On Sunday evening, December 16, the service will be followed by fellowship and refreshments in the Family Life Center.  Each family is asked to bring 1-2 dozen cookies.  If cookies are homemade, please note ingredients that would trigger allergies (such as peanuts, etc.).  Bring the cookies to the Family Life Center before the service.

Cameras, etc. — Please remember this is a worship service and the children’s gift to Jesus.  To keep the focus on our Savior, we ask that flash cameras or video recorders not be used during the services.  Parents are welcome to take pictures or video during rehearsal or after the services.

THANK  YOU for your commitment and encouragement of your children, their teachers, and the staff during this preparation time.

Pam Nummela
